The return to San Cristobal from Palenque was relatively painless. I think I must have been getting used to that serpent of a road and the 4 hour journey. I had a good final day in San Cristobal and still saw some new and fascinating sites. For example I soon found

the market again and I was able to explore new territory there. This was helped in part by an Italian tourist guide. She was showing a group of tourists around the market, and I ever so subtly succeeded in tagging on at the end.
